And then I would think to myself, "Well, we're headed into the weekend, so I'll allow myself to have some chocolate on Friday and Saturday too. I can always start back on Monday."
I kept going through this vicious cycle of doing great and then blowing it.
The same thing would happen with my workouts. I would do great at the beginning of the week, but if I skipped a workout later in the week, I would get lazy over the weekend, put things in cruise control and start over again.
My big breakthrough came when I started hanging out with a group of people who were very successful in all areas of their lives.
Not only in their health and fitness, but in their family relationships and in their businesses and careers as well.
And they started teaching me simple techniques that I could use immediately which instantly helped me control my cravings for chocolate, and in the big picture, helped me stick to any diet or exercise program.
So I started taking notes, writing these techniques down and I started trying them myself.
I discovered that these techniques worked like gangbusters.
They allowed me to set any goal that I wanted in life and achieve it.
It was like magic!
In fact, these techniques helped me to finally develop six-pack abs last year in just 12 weeks.

If it were only about diet, wouldn't we all be at a healthy weight?

Diet and exercise are important, but your mindset and motivation level are even more important.
Myth #3: Watch What You Eat - Everything You Eat!
In many cases, diet suggestions are not only ineffective - they are unhealthy.
Severe calorie restriction, meal replacements, fads, diet pills, magic formulations and high cost prepackaged meals are not eating styles most of us can adopt for very long.
If you say to yourself, "I'm never going to eat ice-cream for as long as I live." you'll probably obsess on ice cream until you eat an entire container in one sitting.
Then you'll feel like you've blown your diet. This isn't necessary.
Enough about these myths that tell you what doesn't work.

Before you start any diet and exercise program, you need to modify your "brain language."
Examine your mental framework, if you will, to make sure you're ready for this.
These 3 simple, but powerful steps will align your thoughts with your actual goals.
Powerful Step #1: Create Your Affirmation
The first action step you should take is to go get yourself a journal and create your affirmation.
This is a statement that will be embedded into your brain which will serve as a prelude to the greatness you are about to achieve.
Do this today.
There is no reason to wait until Monday.
Make today Day #1 of your journey and give yourself permission to move forward.
Once you write down your affirmation in your journal, read it out loud.
You should read your affirmation every night before you go to bed and every morning when you wake up.
Powerful Step # 2: Create your vision.
Summon up a vision of the ideal you.
Close your eyes and see yourself as you'd like to look.
Think about how you'd like to feel.
Think about the sense of well being you'd like to command.
Close your eyes and really see it, and really feel it.
You should write down the vision of the ideal you in your journal and read it aloud every day as well.
